France is not impermeable to the geopolitical effects felt across Europe thanks to the war in Ukraine. As principal materials are becoming more difficult to procure, prices of materials such as timber, terracotta, cement and bitumen are rising in France, as is the case across Europe. Profit margins are feeling pressured and contractor tendering responses are becoming more limited.  

At the close of 4Q 2021 French principal building contractor management was confident of their future workloads. Despite production difficulties continuing, such as a shortage of material supplies and staff, indicators remained above average levels for long-term prospects.
